Celebrate Autumn at Leeds Castle

Enjoy an autumnal break in the Kentish countryside at the enchanting Leeds Castle near Maidstone. In autumn, the castle’s historic grounds come alive with rich colours offering a truly enchanting experience. Leeds Castle offers a selection of accommodation, from lodges and cottages, to cosy bed and breakfast stays – perfect for couples, families and groups.  To add to the experience, overnight stays also include exclusive access once the gates have been closed to day visitors.

Battel Hall – for families and groups
Ideal for group stays, the majestic Battel Hall offers a luxurious manor house escape for up to 14 people. The wisteria-covered historic manor house is not your average holiday stay as it is offers charming drawing rooms full of character, an oak-panelled dining room with seating for up to 14 guests, cosy sofas and open fires, five exceptional bedrooms with en-suites, and additional accommodation – Battel Hall Oast, a two double bedroom apartment which overlooks beautiful private gardens.

Lakeside Lodges – for couples
Leeds Castle’s newest accommodation, its luxury Lakeside Lodges, provide an exclusive escape for guests seeking a serene getaway surrounded by nature, making it ideal for a romantic break for two this autumn. Accessed via a private walkway that meanders through the captivating Lady Baillie Mediterranean Garden Terraces, the luxury Lakeside Lodges offer an outdoor sleek black bathtub on a private deck overlooking the expansive Great Water, where guests can have a relaxing soak while watching the wildlife flitting among the trees and gliding along the misty water.

Holiday Cottages – for families and groups
Leeds Castle’s six luxury historic holiday cottages are located across its stunning 500-acre estate, surrounded by wonderful woodland scenery. Hosting between 2 and 12 people, the whole family can come along as Weir Cottage, Battel Cottage and Keeper’s House are pet friendly*. The properties offer all the necessities for a self-catering stay as well as stunning views across the Kentish countryside.

From the secluded River Lodge, nestled along the water’s edge of the weir pond; The Oast, an apartment which was formerly used for drying hops for the estate brewery; to Keeper’s Cottage, formerly the Gamekeeper’s house which dates back several hundred years; Knight’s Cottage, which offers scenic stays for larger groups with a rolling garden and wonderful views of the parklands and vineyards; and Battel Cottage, a beautiful, period cottage which sits on the edge of the Leeds Castle estate.

Maiden’s Tower – for couples and families  
Escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in the enchanting ambiance of the 16th century Maiden’s Tower. Located directly on the Castle Island, guests can appreciate breath-taking views across the historic castle grounds.

Maiden’s Tower has a rich history and allegedly was used by Katherine of Aragon’s Maid of Honour during her wedding to King Henry VIII. Surrounded by a historic moat and 500 acres of beautiful parkland, the Maiden’s Tower effortlessly combines period elegance with contemporary comfort, offering the charm of yesteryear. Each spacious bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and has plenty of room to accommodate roll-out beds, making it an ideal destination for families seeking a magical getaway*.

Stable Courtyard – for couples, families and groups
The charming Stable Courtyard features a variety of uniquely designed en-suite bedrooms with double, twin, single and family rooms available. Nestled within the Estate’s gardens, guests can immerse themselves in the rich history and elegant charm of one of England’s most breath-taking castles.

During their stay, guests can go on a scenic autumn walk through the Oriental Garden. Inspired by Chinese and Japanese influences, this garden offers a serene space adorned with extraordinary colours and stunning magnolia in full bloom or take time out to explore the Dog Collar Museum and see a fascinating five-century collection of rare, valuable canine collars, and visit the Falconry Arena to watch the shows and meet the birds, including hawks, falcons and owls.

This Halloween at Leeds Castle, families can expect an adventure like no other with an interactive Halloween quest through the Leeds Castle estate. Everyone will receive a special quest sheet with the task to save Rocky, the Stone Monster. Every day during half term (26th October until 3rd November) there will also be a fancy dress competition for the best dressed so don’t forget your costumes! And, for those visiting during Bonfire Night week, the Leeds Castle Fireworks Spectacular will take place on 9th and 10 November. Expect a dazzling display above the historic castle, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

After a busy day, guests can retreat to the Castle View Restaurant, featuring charming oak-beamed interiors, which provides relaxed dining experience for lunch, dinner and afternoon tea.
