We were tasked with launching Citadines Islington London, a design-led apart’hotel housed in London’s exciting Islington Square and the newest property in Citadines’ UK portfolio. In order to secure a successful launch, part of our brief included changing perceptions of apart’hotels, particularly among millennials and Gen Zs, and raising awareness of the benefits of staying in an apart’hotel for leisure and business stays in the capital.
• We crafted news releases for the B2C and B2B markets, tailoring key messages for each in partnership with the client. We also began a programme of media outreach to inform key travel and lifestyle journalists about the upcoming new property and inviting them to stay.
• As Islington Square is a hub for retail, leisure and culture, we reached out to local partners who aligned with Citadines Islington’s ethos and target markets.
o We worked with local neighbourhood plant-based café and wellbeing space, OmNom to create blog pieces for media around wellbeing and self-care.
o We partnered with food waste organisation, Too Good to Go, to create exciting and original media stays which highlighted the kitchen facilities in each apartment while appealing to sustainability-conscious Gen Z and millennial travellers.
o We regularly partnered with Megan’s Mediterranean Café; ODEON Luxe and Dine; Treat Beauty; JIJI’s Japanese restaurant; and upscale blow dry salon, Duck and Dry when organising influencer stays, to showcase the range of activities on the doorstep of the apart’hotel.
• To expand the potential target audience for the property geographically, we worked with Citadines’ German PR agency to organise a cross-cultural influencer stay.
• We targeted women’s lifestyle magazines such as Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan, regularly running competitions to win stays.
• We drafted a series of blog posts about the property and surrounding area, drafted news bulletins and late deals, liaised with media to place profile pieces on the property’s employees, drafted award entries on the client’s behalf and ran a proactive and reactive press office.
• The campaign delivered over 60 pieces of coverage, reaching over 97 million people globally through coverage in The Mail on Sunday, Mail Online, The Sunday Mirror and the Sunday Star, Metro, Luxurious Magazine, Boutique Hotelier, The Caterer, Business Traveller, Serviced Apartment News and Relocate Magazine.
• 15 media and influencer stays took place in first two weeks
• We established partnerships with a range of local businesses, including ODEON Luxe & Dine Islington; Little Angel Theatre Islington, Megan’s Islington, OmNom Islington and Too Good to Go.
• Award win: England’s Leading Serviced Apartments 2022 – Citadines Islington (World Travel Awards)
