Enhancing brand awareness of Citadines apart’hotels in the UK

The Brief:

Hospitality company The Ascott Ltd asked us to develop brand perception and awareness of their Citadines brand of apart’hotels to the UK leisure and business market.

The Activity:

We worked with the client to develop a tiered media list of key UK travel and lifestyle journalists as well as targeted influencers and began a programme of media outreach to invite them to review Citadines’ London properties.

Campaigns: We developed a series of cut-through media campaigns to create a buzz about the brand in the UK media, including:

o #Stayyourway blogger exchanges – We worked with Citadines’ German and French agencies to organise blogger exchanges, where we sent two UK bloggers to experience Citadines Munich and Citadines Cannes, and post about their stays.
o #Liveyourway – An influencer-led campaign to highlight the ‘home from home’ amenities of a Citadines apartment.
o Christmas at Citadines – We arranged family influencer stays at Citadines’ London properties during the winter months, to highlight the convenience of a family apart’hotel stay and showcase the attractions of London in December.
o Pets at Citadines – We invited key influencers (and their pets!) to experience a pet friendly stay in the capital, showcasing Citadines’ pet friendly credentials and the ease of living ‘home from home’ in an apart’hotel.

We drafted a series of blog pieces designed to highlight the brand’s key messages and appeal to their target markets.
• We targeted women’s lifestyle magazines such as Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping, Best and Cosmopolitan, regularly running competitions to win stays.
• We arranged media interviews (including webinars and podcasts) with key employees, to show the personal face of the brand.
• We drafted news bulletins and late deals, drafted and entered awards on the client’s behalf and ran a proactive and reactive press office.

The Results:

We delivered coverage in key national and local UK media, including The Telegraph, The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Sunday Mirror, The Scottish Sun, The Star, Great British Food, Best, The Cheshire Magazine, Metro, Business Traveller, Boutique Hotelier and Re:Locate Global reaching over 166 million people globally.
